Publica Now is an independent creator marketplace where writers, musicians, visual artists, photographers, filmmakers, and educators publish and sell digital work directly to readers — without intermediaries. Founded in 2025 by the team behind Publica.la (which has served publishers across Latin America since 2014), Publica Now brings the same infrastructure to independent creators: storefronts, subscriptions, digital delivery, and payments. Creators keep 85% of every sale (minus a $0.50 transaction fee) and retain 100% of their rights. Readers browse 8 content categories — literary, music, visual design, photography, film, courses, zines, and poetry — and pay in local currencies via Stripe, MercadoPago, PayU, or Bamboo. The platform is available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Organizations such as universities and publishers can create branded Spaces to distribute content from multiple creators under one identity.

How does Publica Now work?

Creators sign up and set up a shop in minutes. You upload your work in any format — ebooks, audio files, images, video, or course materials — choose a pricing model (free, one-time purchase, pay-what-you-want, or subscription), and publish. Each work gets its own product page within your creator storefront. Readers discover content by browsing categories, following creators, or searching the marketplace. When someone buys, payment is processed through Stripe with Adaptive Pricing — buyers see their local currency at checkout, you settle in your chosen currency. The buyer gets instant access to the work through a secure reader. You keep 85% of every sale (minus a $0.50 transaction fee) and get paid on your own schedule.

Who can publish on Publica Now?

Publica Now is built for two kinds of publishers. Individual creators — writers, musicians, visual artists, photographers, filmmakers, educators, poets, and zine-makers — can open a shop for free and start selling within minutes. You keep full ownership of your catalog, your pricing, and your customer relationships. Organizations — universities, publishing houses, collectives, and institutions — can apply to create a branded Space. A Space is a storefront with your own identity where multiple creators publish under one umbrella. Spaces come with team roles, custom revenue splits between platform, organization, and creator, optional review-before-publish workflows, and configurable pricing rules.

How is Publica Now different from other platforms?

Publica Now is direct-to-reader, not algorithm-driven. Creators sell straight to their audience without a platform deciding who gets discovered. Pricing is transparent: 15% plus a $0.50 transaction fee per sale, with free content always free to distribute — no monthly fees and no surprise charges. There is no DRM lock-in on purchased files, and creators retain 100% of their rights; we never claim ownership or exclusivity. The platform is multilingual out of the box (English, Spanish, Portuguese) and accepts payments in local currencies across the Americas and beyond through Stripe, MercadoPago, PayU, and Bamboo. And unlike single-format platforms, Publica Now supports ebooks, music, photography, film, courses, zines, and poetry on one storefront.
