Nobody investigates. Nobody wants to know. Until one woman refused to die. They poisoned her again and again, followed her across the world, terrorizing her as she sought safety. Distracting her endlessly with the promise of a police investigation, the salmon mousses performed sedated surgery, stealing her eggs, a secret she was never supposed to discover. She survived, and she found out. What happens when a beautiful Mediterranean beach resort becomes a hunting ground for tourists and foreigners? Who protects the men who prey on women and children and babies? What is behind foreign criminals, including serial killers, setting up shop there because the law ceases to apply to them once they arrive? The deeper she digs, the uglier it gets. Corruption. Violence. Pornography. Predators. International government spies gone rogue. Criminal networks hiding behind respectability. And a trail that leads back thirty years to a tawdry act of male violence on a much-loved woman. This isn't a case that can be solved by following the rules. And our heroine may be the only person who can safely tell the world what really happened. They thought she was a victim. They were wrong.
